When it comes to a massage, there is a host of benefits to experiencing one. One of the biggest benefits is the relaxation you feel. It also helps to relieve stress and anxiety. A massage will alleviate chronic pain, reduce muscle knots and ensure blood circulates freely through the body. It’s also been tied to helping cancer patients to reduce the symptoms and alleviating the symptoms of cancer treatment side effects.
Like all good things, however, there are some negative points to them.
The biggest negative point is the discomfort. It’s normal to feel discomfort when you get a massage, but it seems the benefits tend to outweigh the awkwardness that can occur during this time.
Still, there are other reasons besides discomfort that make some folks feel less than thrilled about getting a massage. What are they?
7 Reasons People Don’t Like Getting A Massage
Chit Chat
While most chit chat is fine, during a massage, it can be extremely nerve-wracking. It’s not uncommon during a massage to want to talk. After all, an hour can be extremely long time to get a massage in peace and quiet. Or, if you decide that you want nothing but silence, it can be extremely tiresome to have a chatty masseuse that doesn’t take hints.
It can be difficult to relax when chit chat is in the mix.
Farting
One of the biggest fears people have is farting in front of a masseuse. After all, it can be difficult to get past the embarrassment that can occur when farting. However, it’s important you understand that farting is a natural thing – whether you’re going to sleep or just feeling relaxed.
It’s natural for gas to be passed in a massage, but it doesn’t mean that you should let one fly throughout the massage session.
Snoring/Drooling
It’s not uncommon for people to fall asleep during a massage, usually because their body is feeling relaxed. When a person falls asleep, it can lead to drooling and snoring. It’s also not uncommon to wake yourself up from the snoring. How embarrassing is that?!
Erections
The penis has its own mind… at least that’s what many people seem to think. It’s hard for a man to control that little part of them, and when it comes to a massage, men tend to get them during the action. Just because an erection happens doesn’t mean they’re having sexual thoughts. Learn more about orgasm during tantric massage
Moaning
When you’re in the middle of a massage, you may let out a little moaning – “ooh” and “ahh” and “that feels so good”. Sure, you’re feeling relaxed from the massage, but you certainly don’t need to be moaning about it, even though you may feel like it.
Giggling/Twitching
If you’re a ticklish person, you know how hard it can be to stay still when someone is touching a ticklish spot. You may start to giggle and twitch to get away from the touch. However, you need to maintain control over yourself, which can seem impossible to do. You may have to apologize for your actions. The best thing you can do is stay relaxed.
Underwear In The Way
While most massage therapists ask their clients to remove all their clothing to their comfort level, they may ask that you need to disrobe altogether to eliminate your underwear being in the way. You certainly don’t want to make excuses about what you don’t feel comfortable with the idea of getting naked.
