Contrary to popular opinion men are just as picky about the way women look as women are about men. I’m not talking about the big butt and a smile or the girl with the freak’em dress on. While those things are great to look at, we have to do a final inspection. I like to call it “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. We find a way to get up close and personal to do our final inspection, especially when we meet in a dark club or lounge. You know everything that looks good in the dark changes in the light. As challenging as it may seem men don’t end up in the bed with any old body. There is something about that woman that catches his attention even if only for the moment. In our day and age every woman has the potential to be as pretty as she wants to be, but there are some basic things we look for as we make our “Close Encounter of the Third Kind”. Yes, ladies you are aliens in our minds, there’s something strange and unique about you that we feel the need to inspect and probe. LOL. Let’s GO!!!
1. Woman with Beautiful Hair: I believe most men have become accustomed to weaves and wigs as it has become a part of our culture. In many cases it’s a turn on especially in relationships, it gives us that fantasy factor. But the down side is, the roots and tracks start to show or the dandruff starts to build up……(in Tamar’s voice)…”That’s Not Hot”!!!
2. Woman wearing Underwear: Matching Bra and Panties are sexy!!!!! Enough Said!!!!!!!
3. Appearance: Well done manicures and pedicures are something men consider to be a woman’s business card. It gives us insight and details into a small portion of your life. Don’t have chipped nails or toe nail polish, that’s one of the first things we look at during our “Close Encounter”.
4. Attitude of woman: After we get pass the well done manicure, we brace ourselves for the attitude….We usually determine what the attitude is going to be like based on the smile we get or don’t get. Even if you’re not interested in us we still walk away feeling somewhat good because the attitude was pleasant.
5. Conversation: There’s nothing sexier than a pretty woman who can hold a down to earth conversation with broad views and who is strong in her opinion. If the conversation gets over thrown by too much kid talk and baby daddy issues, or Whoa Is Me issues, the RED FLAG gets thrown, Especially on a first date!!!!!
6. Woman with money is sexy: Sexy is a woman on her grind, heels and a strong work ethic balanced by still being soft and womanly. I know you’re saying, ”NO, men get intimated blah blah blah…” but that’s not always true. What we hate, is you reminding us you’re an INDEPENDENT woman every chance you get!!!
7. Confidence woman is sexy: When a woman walks into a room and commands the attention of the entire room without saying a word and does it with style and grace, that is SEXXXXY!!!! While it will take a very secure man to be with this type of woman, we still find it incredibly sexy.That kind of presence is an internal confidence. She could be wearing a sweat suit and socks and still shut the room down. It’s a connection she has with God about herself. Unfortunately, all men see initially is the outer appearance (at least for the moment).
I must say I will take a good attitude in a woman all day… all night…. above any of the physical things I like about a woman. I was apart of a panel discussion several months ago and someone asked the panel, “What’s the one greatest challenge black men face in a relationship with a black woman?”. Everyone gave the most politically correct answer. Then it was my turn. LOL..I said,”The Black Woman’s Mouth!” Needless to say I caused a riot. LOL.. As the host of the event took a break to give people a chance to gather themselves. Several men whispered to me, “You’re brave but that’s the truth”. Others just nodded my way in appreciation. Most of us men will not admit it, but attitude is the defining factor in who becomes a wife or stays a girlfriend. No man wants to look into his future and see a nagging woman~
